Oops

As you might be able to tell by the date of this post compared to the date of the last post, it's been a while. I have now been sufficiently chastised for this and feel a need to repent. But I think I did that in a previous blog too so don't hold your breath!! A lot has happened in the last month, but not really. Just life! We have had two really great weekends, which is my main reason for finally sending a message to the world (or at least to the few friends and relatives still patient enough to check this thing!)

I'll start with the first awesome weekend, which turned out to be completely opposite of what I thought it would be. I've been completely psyched to see Angels and Demons, and my wonderful husband bought us tickets for opening night (not the Thursday midnight shows - I'm too much of a sleep nazi for that nowadays). It sucked. Really really bad. HIGHLY unfortunate. I won't ruin it by providing details but just let me say that if you liked the book, you will hate the movie. And if you like good movies, you will hate the movie. Yep, that bad. Maybe when it's been a little longer I'll outline my grievances but I really don't want to give anything away so that will have to come later. Anyway, the weekend's not looking too good so far. And that was supposed to be the highlight because on Saturday Jordan had this brilliant plan to drag me up and through a mountain. Those of you who know me are already shaking your heads. I don't go up mountains. And I certainly don't go through them. But my husband's friend from Australia was here and he really wanted to hike up to Timp Caves (Mount Timpanogos) so despite trying my best to get out of it, I was on the hook. Oh, and did I mention this glorious adventure was supposed to happen at 9 a.m. ON SATURDAY. Not cool. I haev to admit that when I first found out that little detail, I threw such a fit that they changed the tickets to 9:30. Still not cool. But surprise, surprise, I loved it! The hike was hard (1.5 miles, 11oo-ft. gain in elevation) especially for a girl like me who might just be a tiny bit out of shape, but it was definitely worth it! I loved the caves! I highly recommend it! And don't turn back on the trail! The park rangers were telling us about people who would get to the very last switchback like 50 feet from the end of the trail and turn around out of exhaustion. Don't do it! I think I told everyone we passed on the way down not to give up. Of course there were also those who used the trail as their little morning jog. Don't mind me - I'm just going to pass out on this little outcropping for a week or two until I can breathe again, go right on ahead! But seriously, awesome experience. I even have pictures, which I will post soon (just keep in mind that "soon" is a relative term :)

Great Weekend #2
I can't even begin to tell you how excited I was for Memorial Day weekend. I've been counting down the days for like a month. No big plans, just desperate for a day off! Jordan and I decided to head south to the fabulous vacation destination of Cedar City for the weekend to visit his sister and brother-in-law, who just moved there. It was just plain wonderful - the perfect combination of fun, relaxation and good times with family. We went to St. George on Saturday to do a little shopping (bought my first maternity outfit - figure that one out!), eat at In 'N Out (now do you see why it was such a great weekend?!) and go to the movies (saw Wolverine - liked it). We also got to watch a couple NBA playoff games, which was a treat in and of itself since Jordan and I haven't had cable since April 4. My sister-in-law (Jonni) is a saint! She's six months pregnant and made us feel right at home. Speaking of, we're currently taking a straw poll on baby names and seem to be leaning toward Julio or Fluffy. Feel free to comment ;) All in all, it was a great weekend and wonderful to be around family. I'm so used to spending tons of time with my family but I really want to develop those same close relationships with Jordan's family so it was a perfect opportunity. And if you're ever looking for sheep, Cedar City is the place!

Okay, so that's a pretty decent update for now. I'll probably blog again soon ... I saw an article yesterday that made me really mad and when I started to vent my frustrations to Jordan, he told me to blog about it. Not sure if he's just trying to get out of having to listen to me, but at any rate, I think it's worth a blog. And I owe all of you pictures of Timp Caves! But until then, happy reading!

P.S. - Just in case my Dad is reading this - I promise I'm NOT pregnant! The rest of you can wonder why I bought maternity clothes :)
