Happy Birthday Daddy!

Jordan's birthday was a couple weeks ago and while I'm usually all about extravagant blowouts for birthdays, I tried very hard this year to restrain myself and give him the low-key celebration he always wants!

Memphis just happens to be the home of a triple-A baseball team that's an affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. They play in a really nice stadium downtown complete with a grassy bluff just beyond the outfield that's super cheap for tickets. It's perfect for families because you can bring blankets, snacks, etc., and just hang out while watching the game! We went a couple times last summer and loved it! This season's home opener happened to be the weekend of Jordan's birthday, and they were doing a fireworks show after the Saturday game to celebrate (as in celebrate Jordan's birthday, I'm sure). So we invited all our friends and headed there for the game! We had a great time, and it was definitely the kind of birthday Jordan appreciates - a beautiful evening at the ballpark! Madison liked playing with friends, running around on the grass and even watching some of the game. She also loved the fireworks. She was in awe of the "pretty colors in the sky" and has asked about "more fireworks" several times since!

Jordan got a pretty big birthday present this year that we decided basically counts for all his birthday, anniversary and Valentines' Day presents while we're here in school ... a set of golf clubs!! He's wanted to get into golf for a long time and has some good friends here that play a lot. So we figured now was a good time for him to get his own set of clubs so he can play with them and learn the game. We got them custom fit since he's so tall so he's good to go for a while! He's not quite ready for 18 holes yet, but we've been to the driving range a few times and taken advantage of the putting green at our apartment complex! Maddie also got her own set of clubs so she can play with Dad, and I just love being outside and watching them play! I'm hoping once he gets good, he'll teach me and then we can play together someday when we have babysitters around! In the meantime, I love that he's so excited to learn and play - it'll be a good outlet for him and a way to get outside and have some fun!

Here's some pics, mostly featuring Daddy and Maddie. I just can't help it - they're cute :) Happy Birthday, babe!

Daddy and Maddie

Already a baseball fan!

We're not sure what prompted this but evidently life just became too much to handle for a moment!

All smiles again!

I'm pretty sure jumping on Dad is her favorite thing to do!

I guess a girl can only watch so much baseball before the coloring books call!

Lookin' good!

Getting ready for the PGA Tour

I could definitely get used to this view :)

It's a good thing he has Madison to show him where the ball is supposed to go!

Maddie's golf clubs!

So far, her idea of golfing involves picking up the ball and dropping it in the hole!

Dad's clubs are much more fun!

Working on her swing
