The weekend started on Friday night with an incredible date! Jordan and I finally got to use our Christmas gifts to each other and went to see Wicked! The show was amazing!! We were up pretty high due to that whole living-on-student-loans thing, but it was still fantastic!! I don't know that I would run out and buy the soundtrack (don't hate me, Katie and Allie!), but seeing it performed live on stage right in front of us was nothing short of spectacular! Jordan and I both decided that we would love to be season ticket holders wherever we settle once we are finally settled :) We also went to The Trolley Stop for dinner, which I've been looking forward to for a long time! We went there last summer, and I totally fell in love with the pizza there so I told Jordan that was on my short list of places we needed to revisit before we move! It was seriously the most perfect night, and I'm so grateful we got to go! Special thanks to the Skanchys for watching our girls - we get to return the favor on Tuesday! Hooray for date night swaps :)
As we traveled home Friday evening around 11 pm, we were checking out the sky for signs of snow. We were supposedly under a winter storm warning, but the weathermen have been so wrong all winter about snow and ice so we weren't expecting anything different. Imagine our surprise when we woke up the next morning to fluffy white stuff! We were supposed to go up to the stake center do Jordan could play basketball, which is what I told Madison we were doing when she bounded in at 6:45 am. But Jordan corrected me and told me he had gotten a text message about 15 minutes earlier saying all games had been cancelled. I was really confused by that so I told Madison to open the blinds on the window next to our bed. Sure enough, it had snowed! Like real actual snow, only the second time since we've lived here that there has been actual accumulation on the ground to play in. The girls were so excited, and we all got bundled up to play! McKinley had never actually played in snow before - the only other time we had snow sticking to the ground was when she was about seven months old, and we played it in while she was napping. So she was a little unsure at first what to do! But it didn't take long for her to figure it out and both girls had fun!! It was definitely a welcome surprise! I keep saying if it's going to be this cold, it needs to just snow already so I appreciate Mother Nature for obliging, even if it only lasted a few hours :)
The rest of the weekend, in addition to church, was mostly filled with Olympics, which we all love!! Madison especially gets into it, and falls in love with each new event she sees. One minute she's insisting she's going to be an ice dancer, and the next she's all about snowboarding! She's got the Go USA chant down! Her favorite has definitely been the snowboarding slope style - after watching it last night, she spent all afternoon begging to watch the "snowboarding people fly" Love it!!
So there you have it, our super fantastic awesome weekend! Now if we can just survive until boards are over and we can see Jordan again :)
Our snow bunnies ready to head out!
