Madison's Talk

Madison was asked to give her first talk in Primary a couple weeks ago!! I knew it wouldn't take long for this to happen ... one of the counselors told me after Madison's first day in Sunbeams (and before I was called to be her teacher) that Madison said the prayer in Junior Primary and sounded like a seven-year-old. I figured it wouldn't be long before she was giving talks, teaching lessons and running Sharing Time ;) They gave her a little card that had the topic for her talk, and I made a conscious effort to let her run with it and not just write it for her or interject anything I wanted her to say!

 
We sat down after Church, and I just asked her what she knew and how she felt about the topic and wrote down what she said. So everything in her talk, except for the first sentence, is completely her own:

Heavenly Father commanded Jesus to create the Earth as a home for His children. Jesus created the trees, the birds and all the animals on the Earth. He created the blue blue sky, the clouds and the oceans. He created lots of things. The Earth is a place for us to live. Jesus created our homes. Our families live together on the Earth. We are happy that we live on the Earth. Daddies make us happy too. Heavenly Father makes me very happy! In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Then we practiced it all week long until she had the first part and the last part memorized and just needed a little help in the middle! She was so excited to give her talk! Unfortunately, it happened to be a Sunday when Daddy was gone so I asked a friend to record it so Dad could watch ...

She was definitely excited to be a big girl and get to talk in Primary! She was actually upset the next week when it wasn't her turn to give the talk and has asked me multiple times when she can give her talk again! The counselor in the Presidency in charge of the program told me to make sure we have it saved because they want Madison to give it again as part of the Primary program, but unfortunately we won't be here in the fall. Obviously, I'm pretty proud of her and once again reminded how blessed I am to be her Mom!
