Reagan Four Months

Four months have come and gone, and this girl gets cuter every day!

- Size: 14 pounds 11 ounces (59%), 25.25 inches long (80%) and 16.25 head circumference (68%). 3-6 month clothes. Moving from to size 2 diapers as soon as the current pack of size 1 is empty!
- So here's the deal with nighttime stuff, just so I remember for later. I know she's capable of going all night (after a 10 pm feeding to top her off). But she's still not doing it consistently. I was reading McKinley's three and four month posts, which talk about how she had transitioned to going all night around this time with just us occasionally having to go in and give her the bink so we decided to try that with Reagan. We've had mixed results. Reagan doesn't really like the bink so it's not as effective in getting her back to sleep. So she pretty much still wakes up every morning around 5 am and we spend an hour going in and giving her the bink until 6 am when I feel like it's at least a semi-decent time to start the day. The reality is that I should just go back to feeding her at 5 so we can both go back to sleep. I have a really rough time if I don't get a full night of sleep so I'm hoping we can get this worked out soon, especially now that Jordan's back to work so naps are history.
-  She's moving more toward longer naps two or three times a day instead of having to sleep between each feeding. She naps for at least a couple hours in the morning and afternoon and then depending on how things are going, I try to keep her up after her feeding at 4 or 5 so she'll eat again at 7 or 8 and then go to bed for good. She still naps in the swing but does fine in her bed in the evening. Right now her room tends to be too hot and too light during the day for naps.
- She eats every 3 hours or so and is really fast, which is great!
- Her reflux got really bad for a little while this month, like throwing up full feedings, but it's been a few days since her last truly horrific episode so I'm hopeful we're improving. She still has to have a burp rag at all times since she spits up sporadically all the time. Between the spit up and her CONSTANT drool, she's always soaked! Jordan says it's her way of keeping herself cool since she's always wet :)
- She only poops once a week or so but it's always a blow out. Fun times!
- Her smiles are the GREATEST!!! They're huge and light up her whole face!!! She'll smile at anyone who smiles at her
- She laughs a lot now too, mostly at the girls. She's very ticklish and loves when you give her raspberries
- She has learned how to blow bubbles and loves it!
- She likes to grab at things now, especially the things that hang down on her playmat. She's still not too coordinated at it, but if it's close she can get it.
- She's SO close to rolling over! She can get about halfway up but hasn't quite figured out how to get her arm out of the way. She's really strong though and can hold her entire upper body up off the floor. She's also started scooting a lot and doesn't remain in the same place for long if you put her on her tummy.
- She likes to use those strong arms and legs to break out of her swaddle. We still wrap her when she sleeps but we don't do it very tight now since she always gets something out anyway. She seems to sleep just fine when her arms get loose but wakes up when she kicks her legs out.
- She likes to suck on things, mostly her hands, her burp rags and people. She seriously loves sucking on her hands!
- Her nicknames this month are Reagan Mei Mei Mei and Reagan Megan. I admit Reagan Megan is kind of catchy since I like rhyming but Jordan hates it - that's NOT her middle name!
- With our trip to Utah, she has now been to seven states - AZ, CA, TN, MS, WA, ID, UT. Quite the little traveler!
- She loves to get kisses and tries to return the favor with big open-mouth slobbers! Watch out!
- Madison claims credit for teaching her how to squeal. She's quite excited about her voice and uses it a lot, just like her sisters! I guess you gotta be loud in this family :)
- She's a lot better about the carseat! We almost cancelled our Utah trip because I just didn't want to deal with the screaming. But we decided to try putting both Madison and McKinley in the back so that Reagan could see whichever girl is sitting in the middle and it helped a ton!!! She was so good on the trip and has continued to be so. Night and day difference!

The official four-month picture

Her first experience with grass (this was in Utah ... obviously ... we don't have grass in Arizona)

This girl LOVES to swim! We go almost every evening and she just hangs out in her floaty. She doesn't even mind getting splashed (which happens a lot with her sisters around!)

Our little firecracker

I took this picture just to demonstrate her sucking power. This is the mark she left on my wrist after a couple minutes

She always gets that foot out!

Slobbery cuteness

She likes to hold her hands like this

Just because I can't get enough of her cute smiles!

Hanging out with cousin Gage

  1. Your blogs are always exciting to read. It's so easy for me to visualize all the experiences sweet Reagan Mei is having. Her smiles are so great as her little face completely lights up.
