Five months have come and gone for Miss Reagan! I had a whole list of things for this post on my phone, but of course my phone bit the dust the morning she turned five months so hopefully I can remember all the things I wanted to write about our big baby girl!
- She really is our big baby girl! She's our chunkiest baby so far, which is awesome! She moved to size 2 diapers this month and is solidly into 3-6 month clothes
- She still won't give me what I would consider a full night. She generally wakes up around 5:30 am. She's not really hungry; she's just awake. She talks to herself for a little bit and then starts fussing. So I feed her just to make her happy. Then I play with her until 6:15 when Jordan gets up and takes her so I can go back to sleep until 7. Both my other girls were sleeping until 7 by this time so I'm a little baffled but trying to be patient. The funny thing is she's usually ready to go back to sleep by 7 am so I just wish I could convince her to sleep a little longer and make everyone happier!
- So she usually sleeps from 7 to 8 and then gets up again. We leave at 8:30 to take Madison to school and get back by 9, at which time I feed her again. Then she's usually ready to go back to sleep around 10 and sleeps until between 12 and 1 when she wakes up and eats again. Then she goes back to sleep by 2 (she still doesn't go more than an hour and a half to two hours awake). Unfortunately, I always have to wake her up at 3 to get Madison. She eats again around 4 and then takes a little catnap sometime between 5 and 6. There's another feeding around 7 and then bed sometime around 7:30. We still wake her up to feed her at 10 while we read scriptures, which supposedly tops her off for the night and helps her sleep longer. I'll let you know when it actually works :)
- Her reflux is getting better as long as I don't eat ice cream or drink too much milk. Sad day for Mom. She's still taking medicine three times a day as well
- Both the swing and the bathtub were put away this month. More signs that she's getting big!
- Her biggest milestone this month was rolling over!!!!! She rolled from her tummy to her back on July 29. She did it four times and I was even able to get a video! Ironically, this was the first time that I got to see the first rollover. I missed both Madison and McKinley's first roll so I was extra excited to see Reagan's!! She gets up on her side from her back easily as well so I think she could roll from back to tummy if she wanted to, but if she did that she wouldn't be able to grab her toes so there's no way that's happening!
- Her nicknames this month are Reagan Face and Baby Regs. McKinley loves to come up with nicknames for her! I still call her my Reagan Baby.
- She LOVES her toes! She discovered them fully this month and is constantly grabbing them! Sometimes both feet but always at least one. I love this!! So cute :)
- She also loves to blow raspberries. Pretty much her favorite thing in the world is to be lying on her back, grabbing both of her feet and blowing zerberts! She also loves to squeal, which Madison claims to have taught her. I think it's her only way to be heard above her sisters!
- She also likes to sit up a lot. We've busted out both the Bumbo and a bouncer for her so she can sit up and see things better!
- She's discovered the baby in the mirror and is totally fascinated! She just stares with big eyes and then smiles and laughs. She also likes to look at me through the mirror but still seems a little confused at how she can see me in front of her even though she knows I'm behind her!
- We're all about waiting until six months to start on baby food (that stuff is expensive), but she's gotten very interested in our food this month. She stares intently at anything we eat or drink and follows closely with her eyes anything that goes into our mouths.
- She's cute, but she's also wet ... very wet. Between the reflux, the bubble blowing and the drooling, she's always soaked. And so are the rest of us. Fun times!
- She smiles readily for anyone, but she particularly loves Madison. I don't know what exactly it is about Madison that gets her going, but she lights up whenever Madison comes into view. I personally think Madison is sometimes a bit rough with her - she likes to move her arms and legs around a lot, get in her face, and pretend to scare her. But Reagan loves it!!
- Reagan also loves to be kissed, particularly on her neck and cheeks. Nuzzling her neck is a surefire way to get her laughing. She also seems to take after Jordan when it comes to tickling. Sometimes it works and she laughs a lot, but other times she just stares at you like, "Really? Do you really think that's going to work?" But she'll laugh pretty good if you rub noses with her :)
- She's still the favorite among the girls. We still hear every night that they love her more than they love us. Which is perfectly fine with me! Madison wants to take her to school for Show and Tell.
- She likes to suck on things, particularly us. Our fingers, my shoulder, my chin, whatever body part is handy. Sometimes she'll chew on toys - she actually gets really mad when she's on her playmat but isn't quite positioned right to get one of the toys that hang down in her mouth. But she definitely prefers to chew on me. This also applies to the bink. She'll take it when she's going to sleep, but wants nothing to do with it any other time. She spits it out as soon as you try to put it in her mouth. Eventually I'll be grateful for this, especially as attached to the bink as McKinley was, but right now it's kind of inconvenient to not have an instant way to soothe her if you need to.
- She still definitely prefers to be swaddled when going to sleep. She wakes up and cries as soon as she gets an arm or a leg out. We've tried to break her of this a couple times with dismal results. Looking back, McKinley slept swaddled until she was seven months and it obviously hasn't slowed her down any so I say if it ain't broke don't fix it. The swaddle is magic. As soon as naptime rolls around, all you have to do is wrap her up, put the bink in her mouth and lay her down. Almost always, she's out immediately!
- Generally she's a very happy baby! She'll let you know if something is bothering her like she's tired, has gas, or wants her sisters out of her face, but otherwise she's all smiles!!
I know all these pictures look the same but I can't get enough of that cute face!!

She's adorable! Really! For My kids they actually slept longer without waking around 10-10:30. None of mine sleep through until 6 months! Hopefully she'll get there soon! Missing you!
