Part of me feels like I’m supposed to be sad and nostalgic. I’ve lived in this town longer than anywhere else in my life. I know all the best routes to avoid traffic lights, where to get the most fantastic ice cream and the best pediatrician in the valley. This little apartment is the only place Jordan and I have ever lived. I made my first loaf of bread in the kitchen, set up our first Christmas tree in the living room and brought my daughter home to the nursery. There’s been a lot of living going on here!!
But while there are many things and especially people I’m going to miss, the reality is I’m more excited than I can even express! I’m stoked!! And most importantly, I’m ready. I have loved my time here, but I feel like I’ve gotten everything out of my experience here that I could ask for. I’m leaving here with a great degree from a prestigious university, 8 years of job experience that has already enabled me to find employment in our new home and most importantly, an INCREDIBLE family. Everything that truly matters is coming with me so in many ways I don’t really feel like I’m leaving anything. And with the wonders of technology that allow me to keep in touch with friends and family and continue to share our wanderings, no one is ever far away.
So, in the words of The Cat In the Hat, “Here we go, go, go on an adventure!” It’s going to be awesome to spend so much time with Jordan and with our extended families this summer. And then, we’re really in for an experience halfway across the country. Great food, new friends and our whole future are all ahead of us! I hope you’ll continue to enjoy the ride with us :)

ReplyDeleteI have to tell you I cried a little (okay who am I kidding.. a lot) reading this Jen! I am so excited for you guys, but the selfish side of me doesn't want you guys to leave me! One of the many reasons I didn't get a football ticket this year is because you guys wouldn't be there. You guys have helped me out so much with my kids and it has been fun getting together with you guys when we both couldn't make it to AZ and who is going to hook me up with all the BYU programs and stuff I like to buy?!?!?! I guess we will have to start liking Southern College of Optometry....do they have any cool shirts to sport :) ! Good luck and I can't wait to come visit you guys!
