Happy Easter

Whew, this is my ninth post for the month! I think that's a new record!! And I feel every single one of them ... after a month filled with our whirlwind Atlanta trip, Madison's birthday, her super fun party and our Easter festivities, I'm ready for a nap! But of course I feel so blessed to have such an incredible family and so many wonderful activities and memories to fill our lives with!

Since we're suffering from a little bit of birthday burnout, we kept things low key this year for Easter. Madison got to do an egg hunt at preschool on Thursday and then we went to our church party on Saturday. It was supposed to be held outside at the same place it was last year (which had the awesome train ride and trampoline that Madison loved) but it got rained in and moved to the church :( But there were still eggs filled with candy so you really can't go wrong! This morning we woke up to beautiful sunshine and got all dressed up in our Easter duds, including new dresses for the girls, only to walk out of church three hours later in pouring rain. So the Easter Bunny hid all the eggs inside and much fun was had by all! Madison was very excited to find her eggs, and McKinley put her newfound crawling skills to good use collecting hers. Then both girls mercifully fell asleep while Jordan and I worked on Easter dinner (Madison doesn't take naps anymore so she must've been a tired girl!). Our friends Brandi and Robbie came over and helped us put down some awesome food and then we did our Resurrection eggs. We've done them a couple times this week and just talked about the Resurrection in general with Madison and it's been really fun to see her grasp more and more of it as we've talked. I really love watching and helping her learn things about the gospel that are so important to Jordan and I. It really strengthens my testimony to hear her simple one.

Speaking of my testimony, I'm so grateful for my Savior and Heavenly Father who make all this happiness possible. I never want to imagine an eternity without my incredible husband and sweet children, and I know I don't have to. I know that Jesus Christ lives. I love the message of this holiday: it didn't end in the tomb. He lives, and we will too.

Ready to get some eggs!

The girls got their faces painted! I was off talking shop with the RS President when Jordan took them to do this so when they came up to me after, it was so cute to see them together like this!!!

I just can't get enough of this face!

Hunting for eggs

There was supposed to be a limit of five eggs per child (even though each parent had to supply 12 filled eggs per child ... don't get Jordan started on that one!), but Madison was doing so good getting in there and being aggressive finding them that I didn't want to stifle her. So I may have been taking eggs out of her basket and redepositing them on the floor as she found them!

Two cute girls. Madison actually got multiple dresses for her birthday but we opted for the matching ones for Easter!! They looked so sweet!

Slightly blurry but totally adorable :)

Going through her haul from the Easter Bunny

"M&Ms, my favorite!"

McKinley also thought this Easter Bunny stuff was pretty sweet!

She got to chow down on puffs in her eggs!

Our Easter feast. We had jello salad, ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, mac and cheese, carrots, rolls and punch. Huge shout out to Brandi for making a delicious ham!

And we can't forget Bunny Cake for dessert - almost completely done by Madison!

Friends! Brandi and Robbie (and empty plates!)

The Easter Bunny had to make a return visit to convince Madison to eat her dinner.

Success! Is he the world's greatest Dad or what?!

McKinley also wanted a visit from the Easter Bunny, although not to convince her to eat of course! That girl eats more than I do! Turns out she loves mashed potatoes :)
