Old Man Jordan

Happy 30th Birthday Jordan!!!! I've been waiting to write that for forever!!! Jordan always teases me about being older than he is (he says he saved me from being an old maid) and has especially had fun since I turned 30. I'm glad he finally joined the club! Normally, a big birthday such as this one would necessitate a big celebration, but I know Jordan hates such things so I tried really hard to make the day very low key, exactly as he would want it! And I must've succeeded because he said it was his best birthday ever! Of course we started the day at his 5k race, which you can read about here, and then came home for a nice relaxing day spent together. He got to take a nap, play at the park, watch some golf, tour some model homes (which he really likes to do) and just relax!! He chose BLT's for dinner and then we went swimming!! While we were at the pool some friends saw us and found out it was his birthday and offered to watch the girls for us that night so we could go out!!! We had a gift card to the Cheesecake Factory so we dropped the girls off and shared a delicious slice of German Chocolate Cheesecake!! The next day, we invited some people over and had a game night with blueberry cheesecake homemade ice cream, which is Jordan's favorite! He hates cake!!

The girls had a lot of fun making cards for Dad! McKinley can spell I love you and all of our names so her card said "I love you Dad" lots of times :) They also picked out a new Diamondbacks hat for Dad since he needed a new hat badly! I gave Jordan his present a couple weeks earlier since it had to be done at a certain time, and I think I set a new personal best with this one :) We've been trying to focus more on experiences instead of things as gifts for our kids and each other so I thought long and hard about something fun I could do for Jordan. He really loves to watch curling on tv (like the Olympic sport where you throw rocks down sheets of ice) and I found a curling club here in Arizona that does public lessons. So I bought him and his cousin Wynn curling lessons!! They went for a few hours on a Saturday afternoon and had a blast!! He said it was the best present he's ever gotten!! Wife win :) I think he had a pretty good birthday!

Let's CURL!

Cards from the girls

 Hooray for a new hat!

The girls saw this birthday hat at the dollar store when we went to pick out his birthday balloon and insisted we get it. Of course, I had to do it! We have to have a little birthday fun :) He was a good sport and wore it all through dinner

We stuck candles in his ice cream bowl for him to blow out (and yes, that's Reagan's birthday balloon from the month before still on her chair! We like balloons around here!)
