McKinley Birthday

Happy Birthday McKinley!!!

- This girl is so smart!! She can now spell her last name, the names of everyone in our family and random things (like "I love you"). I'm constantly getting notes and pictures from her telling me how much she loves me and everyone else in our family! She really loves to write and color. She can also count to 40. She hasn't shown much interest in reading by herself yet, but she likes me to read to her and likes to pretend to read. She definitely has a shorter attention span than Madison and gets bored with projects and activities pretty quickly ... well, except for one activity ...
- Her VERY favorite thing to do is play games. She would play for hours at a time if she had someone who would play that long with her! It's the first thing she wants to do every morning. Her favorite games are Uno and Trouble, and she's actually pretty good at both. It's pretty fun to play with her
- She's cursed with her mother's natural loudness. She's so loud all the time, even when she's trying to be quiet. She just has a naturally loud voice and an exuberant personality. This is sometimes a problem when Reagan is sleeping or when we're in the car and she's singing at the top of her lungs and giving her mother a headache :)
- Everyone who meets her instantly loves her! She's just so cute and fun!! Her big personality shines through in everything she does. She's almost always happy except sometimes when she wakes up and whenever she feels like someone is mad at her. She's very sensitive about that. But otherwise, she is just a ray of sunshine! The word I always use to describe her is "delightful"
- She doesn't do very well playing by herself and really loves to have someone around at all times. She's just very social by nature. I so wish she was a twin or Reagan was a year older and could play with her! Sometimes I wonder what in the world I'm going to do with her at home for another 16 months!
-Gymnastics and play group continue to be highlights for her, especially play group. She loves the other girls and is always so excited to go see them. One girl in particular, Clara, really loves McKinley and McKinley thinks it's so funny how excited Clara always is to see her
- We're working on her being ready to give her testimony in church. She's asked to go up with Madison a couple times, but we really feel strongly that kids need to be able to say their testimonies without help when they go up there - the time to help them is in the home - so we're working with her to get her ready. It's mostly just trying to get her to be a little serious about it instead of bearing her testimony about silly things along with the good stuff. We sometimes have the same struggle with prayers. She says them so well most of the time but every once in a while she just throws in something crazy! But she really does know her stuff!! She's right there with Madison when we talk about gospel things or scripture stories and her Sunbeam teachers always rave about how well she listens to lessons and answers questions!

She had a pool party a couple days before her birthday where she opened most of her presents, had cute cupcakes, etc. So the day of her actual birthday was pretty low key!

Opening a present from Grandpa

A tennis racket!!

Reagan of course loved the packing peanuts

We headed to the courts to play but it was already over 100 degrees so we didn't last very long!

Decorating her giant cupcake

Ready to eat!

Silly girl
