3 Months Old

Well, I'm back. After a long drawn-out battle in my head, google has won. I paid my $2.49 so I could keep blogging. Turns out once you reach a certain threshold of pictures on your blog (say, around 734 or so), blogger decides you should have to start paying for the privilege. So $2.49 a month it is. That may not sound like much, but if you put it in context, it really hurts. That's like 3.5 large Pepsi's at the Shell. Or in terms Jordan will understand, 2.5 bean burros at Taco Bell. But my kids are too cute and our adventures too fun to not share them with the world. Plus, this blog is what makes me feel at peace during those all-too-often Relief Society harangues about keeping a journal. So here you go world; you better thank me!

Moving on to better news, our sweet baby girl is now three months old!!! She gets cuter and smarter every day :) Here are some McKinley-isms as of the big three months:

- Weight: 12 lbs 12 oz according to the Wii (no dr. visit this month, which means no shots!! HOORAY!!)
- Still waking up between 5-6 a.m. to eat after a last feeding around 10 p.m. I hope we can keep stretching this out - I would really like to drop one of those two feedings so I can either go to bed earlier or stay in bed later!
- Moving to size 2 diapers this week and definitely already in 3-6 month clothes
- A serious kicker!! This girl's legs are constantly in motion. Hunger isn't actually what wakes her up at night - she won't go to sleep unless she's swaddled but she inevitably kicks her way out of the swaddle, consequently waking herself up. Then once she's awake, she decides she might as well eat! We've even tried one of those Swaddle Me things but all that did was make her mad that she couldn't kick out. Funny girl
- Already loves books and songs. Madison reads and sings to her a lot. Her favorite books are any of our Peek-a-Boo books. Her favorite toy is a little hot pink bunny rabbit that was in Madison's Easter basket
- Has rolled from tummy to back several times! My Mom saw it first on Aug. 1 when she was here visiting. I, of course, was making a grocery list and missed it. Then she did it for Jordan while I was doing some Relief Society stuff. I finally got to see it just yesterday. Little Stinker.
- Had her first dip in the pool yesterday and loved it! She actually fell asleep while I was holding her in the water!
- Still hates the car seat. I'm beginning to think she might never get over that!
- Loves being outside! She's always calm and content whenever we take her outside, as long as she's not in the car seat :)
- Has become much more alert and aware of her surroundings. This is actually starting to become a little bit of a problem. She doesn't like being reclined anymore in her swing, bouncy seat, etc. while she's awake. She wants to sit up and look around. Unfortunately, we don't really have anything to put her in that lets her do that so I end up holding her on my lap a lot. Hopefully we can get something for her soon so I can have my hands back for a little while!
- Along with that, she's become fascinated by her sister. She watches Madison whenever she can with big saucer eyes. Madison still loves Baby Kinley and is always trying to make her smile, sing to her or teach her something. The latest is teaching her how to give high fives and knuckles.
- Loves to smile and coo, especially right after she eats. Her favorite thing to say is "ooooooh" and I love how she puckers her mouth up when she does it. She tries to imitate our facial expressions too. But don't be fooled. This girl can go from 0 to 60 in no time when she's not happy about something. Yikes.
 - Has discovered her hands and sucks on them like crazy!

(If there's one thing I've learned through this blog, it's that I am NOT a photographer. So here are some attempted three-month pics along with a couple random ones playing with Dad. Bear with me :) )

I know it's blurry, but her smile was too awesome to leave it out!

We love you, Baby Kinley!!

  2. Just love the blogs and pics, I'll gladly send the $2.49 to keep seeing the pics. McKinley is growing so fast. She is adorable and I wish I could hold her and give her hugs and kisses. And by the way this is much better than a journal just print it out sometime. Love to All Gram
