Two Months Old!!

I know this blog post is a week late, but we've had a crazy awesome month of July so I deserve a little slack! First Jordan's parents were in town for McKinley's baby blessing, then we moved into a new house (HOORAY!!!) and then my Mom came for a week to hang out with her two cute granddaughters! Whew! But we definitely need a McKinley update since she's growing up SOOO fast so here goes!

- McKinley is already a big girl - 11 lbs 8 oz, 22 inches long. The doctor actually had the nurse weigh her twice because he didn't believe she had gained so much!! She's just about the 50th percentile for her height and head circumference and is in the 65th percentile for her weight! I LOVE my chunky monkey :) Madison is still not even on the growth chart for her weight so seeing all the baby rolls on McKinley has been very cute (and rewarding if I do say so myself!!). She's already wearing some of her 3-6 month clothes.
- McKinley is a great sleeper! She only wakes up once a night to eat, usually around 4-5 a.m. and then goes right back to sleep. She's even given me a couple full nights in the last week (although I think it takes a while for Moms to really enjoy those - I was still up often checking on her because I couldn't believe she was really sleeping through the night!)
- McKinley is also a great crier. This month has been so awesome in some ways (see the next note) but also very hard in other ways. Whether it's due to colic or reflux or whatever, McKinley cries A LOT. She's usually the worst in the evenings, which is especially frustrating for Jordan because he always wants to come home and cuddle and play with her. But she just cries. We keep telling ourselves that she'll out grow it and we just need to make it through a few more weeks. But it's so hard to deal with a crying baby when you've exhausted every method you can think of to soothe her. We of course love her more than anything but we're ready for the "period of p.u.r.p.l.e. crying" to be over!
- McKinley has a killer smile!!!! This makes dealing with all the crying totally worth it! Mornings are usually her best times and she loves it when we hold her in front of us and talk to her. She smiles and coos like a champ!! Sometimes when I'm nursing her, I have to avoid eye contact with her because she get so busy smiling at me she forgets to eat! I tried to get some pictures (see below) but none of them do her justice! You'll just have to take my word for it!
- McKinley is growing up fast. She's already starting to pay attention to her toys (her favorite is a little stuffed pink bunny) and has good head control. She also rolled over today!!! (9.5 weeks in case you're keeping track). Unfortunately, I missed it :( My Mom was doing tummy time with her while I made a grocery list for the week so I wasn't watching her until my Mom said "Did you see that?!" No. We tried to get her to do it again but she was done. Ironically, I missed the first time Madison rolled over too because Jordan kicked me out of the house to attend an Education Week seminar at BYU. I promise I really do pay attention to my kids. I guess we'll have to have another one so I can see that one roll :)
- McKinley is still a beloved little sister. Madison loves her Baby Kinley more than anything. She's very helpful and especially loves tummy time. She's constantly trying to get McKinley to hold onto her toys and loves laying next to her on the blanket. She also insists that they have matching hair bows when we go places. A few days ago, I was laying in bed in the morning listening to McKinley on the baby monitor as she started to wake up when I suddenly heard "Good morning Baby Kinley" through the monitor! So cute :)

Enough talk ... onto the pictures!

She has old man hair! She's mostly bald on the back of her head but she has a thick ring of dark hair around the bottom :)

Two cute girls! I hope they always like each other this much!

  5. Love the pictures and the blog. McKinley is growing so quickly and has such a delicious smile. Madison obviously loves her sister lots. Wish I could see them and have play time too.

  6. She looks so much like her sissy. I'm encouraged that she's chubbier than Madison. I'm hoping this baby is bigger than Amelia was cause everyone was always telling me how skinny she was. I hated it. Yay for chubby babies! (But we still love our skinny ones!)
