Reagan 6 Months

Ahhhh! How did this happen?! I can't believe we're halfway to one year. Our big girl just keeps growing and changing! This month brought lots of new things for Reagan, and it's been fun to watch her personality emerge. We definitely love our Reagan Baby!

- Weight/Height: 16 lbs 6 oz (55%), 26.25 in (62%), 17 in head (75%)
- Size 2 diapers, size 3-6 month clothes although most of these are getting pretty small. The problem is all my 6-9 month clothes are designed for cold weather, which doesn't exist here. So we might need to get creative over the next couple months!
- Has become a roly poly! She rolls both ways now, although she only goes from back to tummy when she's trying to get a toy or trying to get somewhere.
- Is also getting pretty good at sitting up. She can stay up by herself unless she lunges for something and then she falls on her face! She rarely falls backwards
- She really really loves sitting. Anytime she's on her back, she strains to sit up, like baby crunches. She's going to have really strong ab muscles! This includes when she's in her car seat and when she's nursing. She drinks for a few minutes and then pulls off and tries to sit up. Then she goes back to drinking! Silly girl :)
- She's starting to get some peach fuzz on her little head! It's light and fine but definitely there and super cute!
- Her reflux is getting a lot better. We don't use nearly as many burp rags and she's down to the lowest dosage of Zantac just twice a day. However, she still can't handle when I eat ice cream. It really messes her up :( I miss ice cream.
- She had a serious growth spurt at the beginning of the month. She slept a TON, which was kinda nice :)
- She's a serious squealer! I guess she kinda has to be to keep up with her sisters!
- She loves to play with toys now, although she usually just wants to eat them. She likes a little crinkly butterfly the best, but she also loves her little pink mirror and her elephant. She's not too fond of the playmat anymore and can do a few minutes at a time in the jumper but she gets frustrated because she can't chew on anything on the jumper!
- Her favorite toys are definitely her sisters. She loves to watch anything they're doing, especially Madison. She laughs and laughs at their crazy antics! When she wakes up from her nap and sees the girls, she busts out the biggest smiles!
- She LOVES to give and get kisses! She comes at you with a wide open mouth and tries to eat your nose. She loves when you nuzzle her neck and kiss her over and over on her cheek.
- She's not as into her toes or blowing raspberries anymore, but she has discovered the wonder of her tongue. She loves to stick it out and just leave it there. It's super cute to just see her sitting there with her tongue sticking out!
- We've been giving her sippy cups of water a little this month, and she seems to like it. She's VERY interested in anything we eat or drink and gets big eyes and grabs for our food anytime it comes into view. However, she tried carrots for the first time today and wasn't a huge fan. She made horrible faces and refused to swallow! She just held her mouth open until the stuff eventually dribbled out! Silly girl :) I can't wait to get her onto real food!
- Dropped the 10 pm feeding. Honestly I did that in a desperate attempt to see if it would make her sleep longer in the morning (it seems counter intuitive but I've heard that it can work), but no such luck. So now she sleeps from around 7:30 pm to 5:30 am. She has only gone past 6 once (and of course it was actually a day we were traveling and planning to leave at 6 ... so we didn't set an alarm and just figured she'd wake us up at 5:30 and then we'd leave after I fed her. But she didn't. Stinker). Anyway, I don't know what her deal is but she WILL NOT sleep until 6. It's like something magically happens at 5:45 every morning and wakes her up. We've even put cardboard in her window in case it's the sun. It's highly frustrating. I've always had very good sleepers, and honestly, she really is. I mean she's great at naps and she's giving me 10 hours at night. But I need 11. Like I NEED 11. I just can't function with a 5:30 wake-up call. Thankfully, Jordan likes getting up around 6 so we have a system worked out where I get up and feed her and then once it gets past 6 and he wakes up, he takes her so I can go back to sleep. It works for now.
- She also still loves to be swaddled when she goes to sleep. She's actually really awesome at going down to sleep - all you have to do is swaddle her, turn on her music and fan, give her her bink and lay her down. She does the rest. She always breaks out of the swaddle and does fine once she's out, but she likes to be swaddled to start, which is fine.
- She still takes four naps each day, which I know is strange for a six-month-old, but makes sense for her. Her early wake-up time means that after about an hour, she goes back to sleep from about 7-8 am. Oh how I wish she would just sleep until 7! Then she sleeps again from around 9:30 to 11 and again from 1-3. I ALWAYS have to wake her up at 3 to pick up Madison otherwise I think she would sleep longer (McKinley was sleeping until at least 4 for her afternoon nap at 6 months). As a result, she usually needs another little nap around 5 in order to make it to 7:30. I know most babies have dropped that last little nap by this age, but for her is makes sense since she's not getting to sleep as long in the afternoon. It's no surprise that she can't make it from 3-7:30!
- She nurses around 5:30 am, 9 am, 12:30 pm, 4 pm and 7:30 pm so basically every 3.5 hours. Nursing is still going really well for us and she has yet to have a bottle!

  1. Oh she's adorable! I wish so badly I could come and love on her. She's definitely one of yours, but has her own look. Loved talking to you today. I miss getting to see you!
