Madison started soccer at the beginning of February!!! I've been waiting for this for a long time :) We let the girls pick an activity to do each season, and I've been hoping one of them would pick soccer but have tried not to push them into it. I was thrilled when Madison finally decided to play!! Rec league soccer was a big part of my childhood. My whole family was always involved, playing, refereeing or coaching. We spent most of our Saturdays during the season at the soccer fields all day! I even convinced some of my college roommates to coach a team of cute 5 year olds with me when I was at BYU!! Jordan is not really a soccer guy, but he always goes along with my crazy! I keep telling him I really want to coach our girls' teams, and they actually needed a coach for Madison's team, but with four kids, a newborn, teaching preschool and being the YW President, I knew I just couldn't add one more thing right now. Hopefully next year!!
Anyway, Madison loves soccer!!! Obviously, she's not the best or the fastest and she struggles being aggressive, but she really loves it! When she's in the game, she's always hustling to follow the ball and never stops running. She kicks pretty well, but tends to back off the ball whenever someone else approaches ... being aggressive is by far the hardest thing to teach, but we're working on it. When she's not in the game, she always stands right on the sidelines watching and cheering while her other teammates lounge on the bench. She's really into it. The rec league doesn't technically keep score for her age group, but she always knows the score :) I'm so happy that she enjoys it so much!! McKinley could've played too but decided she wanted to watch Madison play first. We're a couple weeks into the season now and McKinley can't wait to play next time!
