We had to run to Wal-mart yesterday to buy another strand of lights for the tree, and while we were there Madison fell in love with a $6 princess umbrella. Like seriously refused-to-let-anyone-else-touch-it, made-up-a-song-on-the-spot-about-it, in love. Jordan and I had a quick pow-wow and decided to use it as an opportunity to teach her a little about money and work. We agreed to buy the umbrella and hold on to it until she did some special chores for us to earn enough money to pay us the $6 for it. She asked for her first special chore as soon as we got home and earned $1 helping Dad clean out his car (I would've asked for more - his car was a mess!). Then today, she earned another dollar by helping rake the leaves in the front yard. She was actually very helpful with her little toy rake and raked up a lot on her own! Then of course we all had a blast jumping in the pile!
So I lied when I said we ALL had a blast jumping in the leaves. We only got McKinley in one time and this was the result. She did NOT like the leaves :) Silly girl!
Great that Madison is learning the value of money and how to earn money through work. Valuable lesson. McKinley wasn't the only one not in the pictures, where is Mom? Wish you were here to earn money raking Grandma's leaves Madison, as I would gladly help you earn the umbrella. Love Grandma
Good job Madison....I like that you are learning how to work and make money for the things that you want!
