Zoo Lights

We were a little on the fence about doing zoo lights this year since it costs $18 for us to get in, but we decided to go with the Walker family the Saturday after Christmas and I'm really glad we did! The lights were pretty awesome, and we had a lot of fun!! We also got to do a lot of things at the zoo that we don't normally get to do, like ride the carousel, the tram and the train. Normally, all of those things cost extra so we stay away, but they're free for zoo lights and we took full advantage!! It was a chilly night for Memphis so we bundled up and were nice and cozy! It was a great way to end the Christmas season!

The GIANT tree out front

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Hippo

I think this was my favorite part. This is just inside the entrance, and it was BEAUTIFUL! The reindeer in the middle is at least 20 feet high

They had a ferris wheel for the first time this year and Madison really wanted to ride it. But she has poor parents who couldn't afford another $18 for the ferris wheel so she just had to settle for looking at it!

Checking out the reindeer

Madison decided she really wanted to ride the camel this time, and since Dad's a sucker and we felt bad about the ferris wheel, we forked over the $3 for her to ride. I was sure she would freak out as soon as it started going, but she loved it!!

Someone else wanted to ride too, but she was too small :)

Four cute kiddos - Jaxon, Emily, McKinley and Madison

We rode the carousel twice!! The first time I stayed off to take pictures, but Madison was disappointed that her giraffe didn't go up and down so we all rode a second time

McKinley wasn't a fan of sitting on the animals but she liked going around. She loves to twirl at home!

A light tunnel. This was new this year and was pretty cool!

Madison insisted on having her picture taken with this "turkey"

Sitting in the egg in farm country. Funny story - there's a little spot in farm country that has a life-size cow you can sit on with two huge cracked eggs on the ground next to it that you can crawl and sit in. My friend Lyndee made the comment that it seemed strange to have a cow next to two eggs, like what are they teaching our kids?!?! I had to admit that I'd never thought about it, but she's totally right! For the record, cows do not come from or produce eggs :)

Riding the North Pole Express Train. Lyndee took these pictures with her phone and Jordan wanted to photo bomb them in the back :)

Family picture!
