CA - Beach Day

We always do a beach day when we go to have some time to relax. My Dad lives five blocks from Huntington Beach so we can just walk down there and play all we want! We'll certainly miss that perk when he moves inland next month!! We started the day with breakfast at home and then we took the girls to Sacrament meeting at the ward there in HB. We got home around noon and found Amy and Grandma Bobbie at the house!! We talked for a little bit while the girls played with some stuffed animals my Grandma brought. She was diagnosed with lung cancer last fall and has been doing chemo and radiation so I was anxious to see her and see how she was really doing. Despite the wear and tear from going through so much treatment, she looked good and was sporting a stylin' wig due to all her hair loss! Her cancer, along with my Aunt Betty's, is actually what prompted my Dad to shave his head in January. The girls loved calling him Bald Head Grandpa and started calling Jordan Bald Head Dad after my little clipper mishap :)

Back to the story ... we walked down to the beach and almost got blown away!! It was insanely windy down there!! We walked down the pier to our favorite place to eat, Ruby's, and had a seriously tough time getting there. Reagan was in the stroller, which we tried to cover with a jacket so she wouldn't get so much wind in her face but there ended up being a small part uncovered that created a tunnel effect right into her. I did my best to keep her covered but she was really upset so I just took off down the pier as fast as I could. The wind was blowing so hard on the stroller I thought I might not make it!! What a leg workout!! We finally all made it out to Ruby's and enjoyed a late lunch featuring my absolute favorite fish tacos!! I love them!!! Then we walked back down the pier and out onto the beach (the walk back wasn't as bad because we were going with the wind thankfully). We tried to play on the beach some but the wind made it hard - the water was too cold to splash in, even for me, and anything the girls tried to build got blown over! They ran around and played for a bit but the sand was stinging our legs and Reagan was getting done so we headed back to the house. Even with the wind, it's always nice just to be by the ocean! I really love it!

The girls won some prizes at the Adventure City arcade, including this ribbon wand. Madison was the teacher and McKinley was the student learning how to use the ribbon.

Amy got Madison an awesome headband making set so she immediately set out making headbands for all of us. Grandpa proudly wore his while making breakfast

These girls had too much fun playing on the stairs. Reagan mastered them while we were there

Playing with Grandma Bobbie

Can this girl get any cuter?!

Our new pets - Freddy the Frog and Squeaky Mousy Rothlisberger

The girls wanted to take their stuffed animals with us to the beach but Grandpa convinced them to leave the animals to watch the house. Of course they had to be perched high on the ceiling fan to keep an eye on things

 A beautiful beach day

Walking down the pier

The obligatory family shot at the end of the pier. We have several of these over the eight years we've been together and it's so fun to see how our family has grown!!

There was a balloon artist at Rubys so the girls got princess crowns

Amy got a headband too!

And here's Madison's creation

 Having fun on the stairs
