It started out just fine. We were in our bathroom with Jordan sitting in the folding chair, same as always. I had the clippers in my hand with my first guard already attached and the other guards I use laid out on the counter, same as always. I turned the clippers on and got into position for my first pass, same as always. But then a funny thing happened. McKinley ran into the room to tell us something really urgent, (something like "Madison says I'm not in charge but I am"). And I turned to look at her. And I heard a little noise. But before I could register what it might've been, I was already turning back to Jordan's head and making my first pass. And then I saw it. The giant stripe I had just shaved in my husband's head. I stared first at his head and then at the clippers and it all made sense. That sound I had heard was the sound of the guard falling off the clippers. And I had just given my husband the beginnings of a mohawk. Not cool.
I stared in disbelief with my hand over my mouth, and of course Jordan noticed and asked what was wrong. I had no words so I responded by just shaking my head until he finally turned to look in the mirror ... and started laughing. Seeing his reaction made me a little less horrified and I was finally able to laugh too. I'm incredibly grateful for a husband who always makes the best out of any situation and is able to find the humor in everything! We talked for a few minutes about how to fix it but after trying a couple different things with terrible results, it became obvious we just had to shave his head. The stripe was simply too high up to do anything else. I was so afraid of how it would look (having a shaved head is fine when you're 10, but doctors aren't supposed to look like skin heads!), but it actually turned out pretty good! He says he even likes it better than his normal haircut and might keep it this way at least through the summer.
So we had a good laugh, and Jordan ended up with a little different look than he was planning on. Of course when we showed up to church everyone was shocked and Jordan had a lot of fun telling people "This is what happens when you let your wife cut your hair when she's mad at you!" So not true! But he enjoyed the joke, and I think we'll be laughing about this one for a long time!
My "Oh crap" moment
Sometimes you just have to cut your losses - literally
He has these really deep grooves in the back of his head - kind of funny
He still looks dang good if you ask me :)

Oh my heavens! Did something like this to Cade once only not as drastic. So I can kinda relate! Sorry. He looks good that way too though!

ReplyDeleteHair doesn't make the man! The Rock doesn't have hair and he's still sexy! It will be cool this summer and great for swimming. Jen be thankful it was Jordan and not you !!! ♡♡♡
ReplyDeleteBoys hair grows so fast in a few weeks I'm sure it will have grown out enough to try to fix it more. I wish sometimes I could shave my head and not have to worry about my hair :)
