Celebrating Reagan

Having two children with birthdays one day apart is going to vex me until the day I die!! Birthdays are a really big deal to me and I just know I'm going to be constantly trying to find ways to celebrate each of my cute girls separately while also maintaining my sanity. Since Madison has had a big party every year of her life, including friend parties the last two years, we established a new rule this year of friend parties every other year. So this year we made our Disneyland trip the big birthday celebration and kept the actual birthdays more low key. We did do presents and cake combined with Jenna's family but tried very hard to emphasize each day separately. Obviously this year wasn't a big deal because Reagan had no clue what was going on, but it was funny to see how Madison kept trying to insist that she was the birthday girl too on Sunday as we were celebrating Reagan when her birthday wasn't until Monday :)

Anyway, on to Reagan's birthday!! We started the day off with celebrations since both girls were getting presents they could use at church so we let them open a couple gifts in the morning, a dress and church shoes for Madison and church shoes for Reagan. Reagan loved her balloon and was so excited to see it and play with it! Her initial reaction to the present was to eat it, which is pretty much what she does with everything, but she got into opening it and was pretty happy to find shoes since she loves them!! The bulk of the day was then spent doing all our normal crazy Sunday stuff. I did put her in the cute "1" shirt I made for her and took some pictures after church. Once we got home from choir practice, it was time to party! Jenna and her family came over and we made some of Reagan's favorite things for dinner - grilled pork chops, roasted zucchini and pasta roni. This girl is seriously the best eater!!! Unfortunately, her afternoon nap was less than great so she was grumpy! After dinner, we did presents and then cake!! Reagan liked tearing the paper and had LOTS of help with her presents. Poor McKinley just didn't understand why the other two girls were getting to open presents and she wasn't and kept trying to "help" Reagan open hers :) Cake time went in typical Rothlisberger fashion ... none of our girls have ever really gotten into the cake smashing thing. Reagan liked playing in the frosting and ate some of the cake and then she was done :) It was a fun day celebrating our cute Reagan Face! I know we all love her so much and are so grateful that she's part of our family!!

Part 1 of 48 Hours of Birthday is in the books!! Next up is Madison!

She was so excited to see the balloon!

I'm just supposed to eat this, right?

Ah, there we go. Wrapping paper!

Her very first present - shoes ... training her young :)

Dinner wasn't such a hit until she got to sit in my lap and eat

More presents! I've got this now, Mom!

Madison was trying to help her show a little more enthusiasm

She had LOTS of help opening her presents

I know what to do with these!

Presents from Grandpa are always a big hit!

The traditional gigantic first birthday cupcake

I'm ready for it!

And we're done

The next morning, I realized that we had completely forgotten to give her her big present, a new ride-on toy!! So the birthday fun continued. She loves this little car!!

Gotta love the tongue out while concentrating on getting on and off. All the girls (and Jordan) stick their tongues out when they're concentrating on something!

It has a little phone too

Already texting and driving

Yeah, that's enough. Get off me so I can get moving!

Hold on a second, I just have to respond to this message

Happy Birthday Cute Girl!!!
